Crack two large or extra-large eggs into a Zip lock bag. Never more than two eggs per bag.
Add milk, salt and pepper. Shake and squeeze to combine them. Put out an assortment of your favorite omelet ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, hot pepper, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. Have guests write their name on a quart-size Zip lock freezer bag with a permanent marker. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of their choice to their bag and shakes. Remove all air from bag and zip it up. Air left in the bag will make the bag float, and the egg will cook unevenly. Non freezer bags may melt, so use Zip lock freezer bags. Squeeze and shack the baggies to scramble the ingredients. Double check that each bag is sealed and there is no air in the bag. Using tongs, place each bag into the boiling water, for exactly thirteen minutes. keeping water at a rolling boil. Using tongs lift the bags after thirteen minutes to check them, you can see if the eggs are cooked. You can usually cook 6 to 8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Great food for camping.. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet! Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece. Best of all there is very little cleanup. ![]() |
